2025
Join us on a photography workshop like no other
Snap adventures is pleased to invite you on an awe-inspiring adventure through the wild beauty of Rwanda and Uganda. You will see first-hand how mesmerizingly beautiful this region is, including jaw dropping landscapes, raw jungles, and a vast array of endangered wildlife in their natural habitat.
This tour has been carefully designed to offer an unparalleled African adventure, allowing you to experience the continent’s most amazing wildlife encounters in a single trip. While the Mountain Gorilla treks are the undisputed highlight, this multi-faceted journey offers so much more. From traditional safaris to stunning landscapes, you’ll capture the essence of Africa through your lens.
Lets break the journey down to two different parts: visiting the Gorillas and taking safaris to see a host of other wildlife.
Let’s talk briefly about the Gorilla’s. As the name of the tour suggest we put a lot of emphasis on this part of the trip. Spending even the smallest amount of time with a Gorilla family in their natural habitat makes the entire trip a success and we’ve created a schedule so we can visit these creatures on 2 different treks. This gives us a great opportunity see them at their best. Details of how this all works is below, but don’t jump down there just yet – we need to discuss the rest of the trip.
So many safari’s……
Don’t put that camera down just yet -- In addition to gorilla trekking, you’ll embark on Safari’s on the lookout for wildlife like: tree climbing lions (yes, you read that correctly – there are tree climbing lions), elephants, buffalos, antelopes, Monkeys and birds of prey all in their natural environments. This dynamic combination of experiences promises not just incredible photo opportunities but memories that will last a lifetime. When you are ready you’ll want to check out the itinerary on the next page to grasp the full magnitude of the tour.
With Snap Adventures, you’ll receive expert photographic guidance throughout. Our small group size ensures personalized instruction, whether you're a beginner or an experienced photographer. You’ll refine your skills, enhance your technique, and return home with a portfolio of breathtaking images that tell the story of your African adventure. However, if you’re the type of person that keeps your memory books in your head, this trip won’t disappoint. Just know that we will discuss best camera gear and functions for capturing all the wildlife. So if you’re ok with a bunch of camera talk then your participation is encouraged.
Brief list of Tour Highlights

Expert Photography Instruction: Personalized guidance from Glen, a seasoned photographer and world traveler, ensuring you make the most of every shot.
Small Group Size: A maximum of 8 participants, ensuring intimate wildlife encounters and personalized attention.
Let’s spend some time on how this all works. I know from my 1st trip I didn’t grasp the details so let’s make sure you know what I didn’t:
Mountain Gorilla Encounters: How It Works
Each day, only a limited number of visitors are allowed to trek to see the gorillas, ensuring a respectful and intimate experience. Our groups will consist of just 8 guests, accompanied by local guides, trackers, and protectors, to help ensure an up-close but safe interaction. You'll spend one hour with a gorilla family—a fleeting but unforgettable experience.
Early each morning Scouts head out to track the gorillas’ overnight movements and report back, so when we set off on our trek, we’ll know exactly where we are headed. Depending on their location, treks can last up to four hours, with terrain varying from flat paths to steeper climbs through dense rainforest. It’s an adventure in itself, but the reward of meeting these majestic creatures face-to-face is truly worth every step.
Other safari’s
All of the other safaris are more traditional, using some cool safari land rover type vehicles or a boat or even our feet to trek to our locations.
Weather, I’ve put in the request…..
Believe me, I understand the difficulty of photography and weather. I can publish encyclopedia’s worth of images where the weather was not my friend. However, I have triangulated all my knowhow, the weather gods, vast amount of technology to carefully time this workshop to coincide with the most favorable weather conditions for both trekking and photography. You should Expect cool, pleasant temperatures, perfect for exploring the lush rainforests and capturing wildlife. As with any rainforest, we will come prepared for possible rain or unexpected conditions.
Fitness & Health Considerations
Gorilla trekking is a physically demanding but rewarding adventure, suitable for anyone in good health. We recommend preparing for a challenging hike, as the trek takes place in a rainforest environment—likely different from what you're used to. While there's no need to worry, you’ll enjoy the experience more if you’re well-prepared.
To get ready, consider taking hikes in your local area, or even giving your dog that extra walk—they’ll love it! Even the most seasoned adventurers can benefit from a little assistance. The park provides complimentary walking sticks, and for a reasonable fee, you can hire a local porter to carry your gear. Hiring a porter not only makes your trek easier but also directly supports the surrounding communities, making your adventure even more meaningful.
Group Size & Comfort
With a group size limited to just 8 (7 guests + Glen), the tour ensures personalized attention and an intimate atmosphere. Two safari vehicles will allow for comfort and space, with Glen rotating between vehicles to offer photographic insights and advice. You’ll also benefit from the expertise of our local guides, who are highly experienced in working with photographers to find the best shots.
